Software engineering at planet scale
Building large scale systems comes with large scale challenges. At Uber, thousands of engineers deploy thousands of micro services to multiple cloud providers thousands of times every week. This results in a system that undergoes production changes to critical components at any point in time.
In this talk, we will explore the lessons that we learned from building service and deploy infrastructure for a company with business, data centers, and engineers all across the globe. We show how we can change code, configuration, and cloud providers all the time without descending into chaos. As part of this, we will look into how we help our engineers understand the behavior of code in production and mitigate problems arising from bad deploys.
